Rare Chinese Antique Donated to LVAC Country Auction   (10/26/2009)

One of the showcase items featured at the upcoming November 7, Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps Auction will be a rare Ladies Sewing Box, circa eighteen hundreds, from China. Making the significant donation, Mary Mayland, above, holding the unique antique, is the proprietor of the recently established Mayland & Co. Home at Cross River Shopping Plaza. Happily accepting the gift, which will be featured during the popular Live Auction at the Waccabuc Country Club are, from left, LVAC Trustees Sue Lineen, Annie Petronis and Captain Karen Barber. The sewing box is made from ebony and covered with mother of pearl decorations. The inside contains small compartments for pins, needles, thread and other sewing materials. The item will be available for inspection prior to the Live Auction at 8:00 PM. All are welcome to attend.
