The first chill of autumn is a sure sign that things are heating up for the team planning the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps Annual Auction. Set for Saturday, November 7, at the Waccabuc Country Club, the annual event has grown into a highly popular highlight of the Town's yearly community calendar. While attendees always enjoy a warm, friendly, fun filled evening; the event has the very serious purpose of raising funds for the all-volunteer ambulance corps. All proceeds from the Auction go directly to LVAC, allowing them to cover operating expenses, including vehicle repairs and gas, on-board medical equipment and supplies along with maintenance of the Corps headquarters on Route 35. Held under a tent on the Grounds of the Waccabuc Country Club, the silent auction begins at 4:00 PM and the live auction begins at 8:00 PM. Complimentary gourmet hors d'oeuvres and cash bar are available from 6:00 PM. Over 350 guests are expected to attend the event, which has grown in popularity to become an annual tradition open to all residents and friends. The dress is "Country Casual" with auction items priced for every budget. "We are very proud of this event as a tradition in town," comments LVAC Captain Karen Barber. "and look at it not only as an opportunity to help LVAC, but as one of the best annual events in our community and we encourage everyone to come out and join us." Quality auction items are still needed and area residents and businesses are encouraged to support the LVAC fundraiser with donations of goods and services for both the silent and live auctions. Donors may call members of the Auction Committee, led by volunteers Pam Brokate, 763-5322, Pat Normandeau, 763-3429, Sy Lynch, 533-2011, Ann Mcguinness, 232-0135, Laura Isler, 763-5661 or Marie Preneta, 763-6802. Auction categories include fine art and photography, professional sporting event tickets, jewelry, gift baskets, toys, sporting goods, antique steamer trunk, vacation getaways, theatre tickets, antique furniture and much more. LVAC is a community-based,
all-volunteer organization that provides emergency medical services
at no charge to Goldens Bridge, South Salem, Waccabuc and South
Salem residents and guests 24 hours each day, every day of the
year, according to Captain Barber. The Corps also provides mutual
aid to communities in Vista, North Salem, Bedford, Katonah, Pound
Ridge and Somers. "Since the Corps does not receive any
local, state or federal funds to operate, and we never charge
for our service, the always generous support of the community
is truly appreciated," commented Barber. |
